BabyCell processes cord blood using internationally approved Density Gradient Separation Technology. In this process, excess plasma and red blood cells are removed by centrifugation and the mononuclear rich plasma containing stem cells are stored for future use. Processing is done using Closed Bag System, thus ensuring that the cord blood is not exposed to extraneous particles during any point of time in processing.
Maternal Blood Testing
BabyCell also collects mother's blood for testing of Infectious Diseases. Mother's blood will be tested for
HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus)

HCV (Hepatitis C virus)
HTLV (Human T Lymphocyte Virus)
CMV (Cytomegalovirus)
Syphilis
Malaria
If any of the above test result is positive, BabyCell may decide not to store your baby's the cord blood.
Client notification
You will be notified by our Client Relationship Executive once the specimen reaches the lab and is processed and stored. A detailed report along with certificate of preservation shall be dispatched within 30 days after the collection.
Upon cryopreservation
BabyCell stores its cord blood units in cryobags. This is an internationally acclaimed method of storage and most transplant centres around the world accepts cord blood stored in cryobags. Storage in cryobags is superior to cryovials in terms of higher viability and recovery of stored stem cells over the years. In addition it minimizes the issues of external contamination entering the blood system.
BabyCell cryopreserves all specimens in vapour phase of liquid nitrogen. This prevents cross contamination of specimens which is known to occur in liquid phase of liquid nitrogen. Additionally, all specimens are first sealed in cryobags and then placed in distinct cassettes which further ensure safety of your specimen.
